Little Black Dress: PATTERN AND TOILE.
THEME: Dark fantasy Alice In Wonderland.
These pictures show the first stages of my little black dress pattern, from tracing round a simple dress block to editing my pattern. My dress was pretty complicated so I knew that the pattern would be a challenge. I had lots of different bits and pieces to trace off in the end. You can see from the pictures I decided to use different colour pencils so I could easily tell which piece was which that I needed to trace off. In the bottom pictures you can see that I am about to cut out in calico, this is only the top part of my dress that i'm cutting out and sewing up together so I can see if it's right.
Sewing up top in calico.
After I stitched up the top part of my dress you can see from the pictures that there was some
adjustments to be made.
Edited pattern pieces (top half of dress)
Heres my pattern pieces after they had been edited again, ready to try again and see if it's right this time.
THINK IVE GOT IT RIGHT THIS TIME
Heres what the top half of my dress looked like once it had been edited, this time I think it falls perfect and i'm happy with it, so now it's time to sew the whole dress up together to see what it's like.
DRESS (TOILE)
After the dress was all sewn together I decided to edit the bottom half of my pattern so when it came to making my final little black dress it would have more about it on the waist. I cut and slashed my pattern wider, this will give it more of a puffy effect on the skirt part.
Finally I had to create a quick simple bow as my theme is alice in wonderland so a bow is essential! I was just playing about with it in these pictures to see if I liked the tie bits at the bottom or not, but when it comes to making my final dress I will then decide what looks better.
